UPDATE: This map has unfortunately been abandoned, but this does not mean the end of me making games and maps, as I plan on transitioning to Hytale! The biggest problem I faced making this map was running into issues and limitations when it came to storybuilding and making a diverse set of combat situations and setpieces, and Hytale looks like it has a huge amount of assets and tools to work with so I'm excited to use them in the future! However, I have decided to release the unfinished map to the public, along with some commentary as to what I was going for with the map, and what inspired me. Feel free to check it out, and I hope you enjoy exploring through it as much as I have making it. I'd like to thank OnlyTheBest, Quinten, Voldiz, and ImYourEnder from Parallax Productions for helping with coding and mechanics, you've all been awesome to work with! As my talents in MC don't go much further than level design and building, you've all been extremely helpful!

The Tower stands on the island, with defenses, enemies, and villagers rounded up like cattle, enslaved to the Nether army. It's drained the resources from the land, and is preparing to open up a portal to unleash its forces upon the earth, and it's up to you to stop it. You must make your way through caverns and chambers to get to the top of the tower, fighting your way through enemies, solving puzzles, and platforming through dangerous obstacles. Will you make it through alive?

Well, I'm always sad to see projects to go unfinished, but I'm glad you decided to post the upload link even if you weren't done with the final product. But oh man, I didn't expect all of what that to be considered 'unfinished'. I can't say I blame you for abandoning such a ambitious project, but good lord man if this beast was finished and polished up, this had all the material to become one of the greatest maps I'd ever play in my own humble opinion. You took time and effort to put in little details that no one else would even consider thinking about, it's clear to me from your commentary that you enjoyed placing in every little detail you could in this, and this was, even in it's unfinished state, an atmospheric adventure the likes of which is sadly extremely (and increasingly) rare on Minecraft.

I'd say good luck on your projects in Hytale, and that I hope I'd see your projects featured on there but you know what- as long as you put this kinda love and effort into that, I don't think you'll have any problems soaring to the top of creators on Hytale. I genuinely hope to see a Hytale reboot of this, maybe this time with guns and proper Half Life vents to crawl through.

Absolutely stellar work man.
P.S.- Nice Pink Floyd easter egg.

Thanks so much for saying so! I really appreciate that you took the time to look through the map, despite it not being finished. It definitely was ambitious, and I was expecting to be working on this for a few years, so it was cancelled mainly for Minecraft's own limitations, not out of motivation. I had a ton of gameplay mechanics that I were planned out that I thought would work well enough in the engine's own limitations, but when it came to implimentation that's where the issues arrised. However, I'm still holding onto a lot of these for my next project, which will be larger in scope, but I plan on having a large team working alongside me to help in both coding and building.
Atmosphere is still going to be a key factor, which I really tried to push as far as I could with Minecraft. Obviously Half-Life was a gigantic influence, and funny enough Pink Floyd's album Animals had a lot of the same vibe I was going for, if that makes any sense. While I'm not jumping to any conclusions, Hytale seems to offer a huge amount when it comes to animation, coding, lighting, scripting, cinematics, which I'm all very excited for. The next project I've been planning is one I've been passionate about working on for years now, but I knew that Minecraft wouldn't have the capabilities to produce it, though right now I'm using Minecraft to create scales of environments and mechanics that I'm hoping to impliment.
I'm excited to be working on this next project, which I hope will be even better than what might have been this map. It's sad to have so much work be cut short after over 2 years, but again there's a lot I'm planning to carry over, so not all of it has been wasted. Still, I'm glad that people have been able to see what might have been, and I'm glad you enjoyed looking through it! I'll keep this account active and up to date when it comes to my next projects as I migrate over to Hytale, so I'll keep updates as to where the next project is headed!

I've decided to abandon this project as of now, I found myself running into quite a few limitations as to what I could do story-wise. However, this doesn't mean I'm gone from gamemaking, as I'm planning on working through Hytale instead! Probably not with this particular map in mind, but I definitely plan on retaining a lot of story elements and ideas I've had with this map! Hytale is looking like an incredible tool for map and game makers, so I'm pretty excited for what it has to offer

Ahh ok man thank you for letting me I know because I couldn't tell if it was abandon or not, but yeah I can totally understand why you would chose Hytale because it does have good tools for maps and costume stuff so I think switching is kind reasonable. But maybe next time make sure to put something on this map or like in a update or in the title saying it's abandon so people don't waste time waiting for this map to be done. But good luck man!
And maybe give it a download because so much hard work shouldn't be wasted I think people can check on it to see how much you put into this project of yours.

Thanks! And I apologize for not putting something up, I was debating whether or not to abandon it but I felt it was necessary to move forward. But I'm actually putting up a download right now, so stay tuned!

That's be awesome! I don't know exactly when it'll come out, it's pretty much a solo project for me but I'm trying to keep the project posted with updates. When the video comes out, send me a link, I'd love to watch it!
