Hello all :) Just a little idea I came up with. Being inspired by Power Armor from Fallout. In my fictional world of the American Civil War. This heavy armor would be used by the Union Army. It would house a solider inside. Two coal fired boilers on his back power one side of the mech. With hopper fed coal, and a small water tank for longer service. With the whole suit weighing in at a ton or more (haven't thought up a number). The trooper has to be fired up to pressure before battle, and deployed in the field via a special wagon carrying Ammo water, and coal.
Carrying a full sized Gatling gun ran off the suit's steam power. All tho slow and cumbersome. This heavy trooper can inflict devastating fire upon unsuspecting rebels. The armor all tho being able to shrug off small arms fire, is still just as susceptible to artillery fire, both canister, solid, and case shot. So he must be sure to flank/ silence all guns before they can return fire.
With steam powering his limbs he can easily lift, overturn, and generally fling aside any breastworks, wagons, guns, that lay in his path. Tho his weakness is on his back. if he is hit in the back by fire, they can easily destroy, or other wise disable the boilers, which may result in a boiler explosion
