USS Alaska was the lead ship of the Alaska Class of large cruisers in the United States Navy during the end of World War II. She was the first one completed, followed by her sister ship USS Guam (CB-2). She was laid down December 17th, 1941 and commissioned in June 1944. She participated in operations off Iwo Jima & Okinawa providing anti-aircraft defense for task forces. She played a small role in the Korean War and was stricken off the Naval Registry in 1961.
She is depicted here in a Measure 32/1D camouflage scheme. She is 1:1 scale and is equipped with a pair of OS2U Kingfisher planes. The ship has fully functioning guns, although I haven't started an interior yet so there is no propulsion. The ship has 9x 12", 12x 5", 14x quad 40mm anti-aircraft cannons, 34x 20mm Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns. This build was done using a special plugin & resource pack found on HC.NavalBattleZone.com.
