USS Prince de Neufchatel was a schooner-rigged privateer built in 1812. Notable for her speed, she took 9 British prizes during her short career, and evaded many attempts at capture, including one by the famous HMS Endymion (1797). She was finally captured in 1814 after her masts failed from stress while under sail. She was deemed "unsuitable" for purchase by dockyard officials, and soon after her keel was damaged beyond repair on a dock gate. Her further fate is unknown.
For this build, plans from Howard I. Chapelle's "The Search for Speed Under Sail" and "The History of American Sailing Ships" were used.
