Vietnam receives Hamilton-class cutter from US Coast Guard
The Vietnam Coast Guard (Cảnh Sát Biểnn VietNam: CSB) has taken delivery of a Hamilton-class high-endurance cutter that was previously in service with the United States Coast Guard (USCG) for 48 years.
The vessel, which was formerly known as USCG Morgenthau (WHEC 722), was ceremonially handed over to Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Dam, commandant of the VCG, on 25 May at USCG Base Honolulu. Handing over the platform on behalf of the USCG was Rear Admiral Michael J Haycock, the service's assistant commandant and chief acquisition officer. The vessel has since been renamed CSB-8020.
