Hey, this is my submission for the Desert Detour Contest. Took around 3 hours of ingame building and half an hour for writting the lore. I hope you enjoy!

[Lore]
Steve recollected himself after slipping down the slope. As he stood up he noticed a group of pillars a few blocks away. He picked up his sword and walked towards the pillars. As he approached the pillars he noticed that they were in a circular shape surrounding something. They were surrounding a stone block with a lever on it. He examined it, and pulled it. It wouldn’t budge. He tried again and again but the lever wouldn’t move. He then pulled out his diamond pickaxe and broke the block underneath the lever. The lever broke seamlessly. He then placed one of his own levers in the original position and pulled it.
There was a sound of pistons and rumbling which travelled away from Steve. Then everything was silent. But only for a moment. Suddenly the ground started shaking. Everything around Steve moved and he fell onto his side. When the rumbling stopped Steve looked around. He noticed two very large structures just a hundred blocks away. He stood up, asking himself if they were there before. Collecting his sword he started off towards the structures. As he got a better view he noticed that the structures seemed to be temples. Made completely from sandstone and stone. He also noticed that the structures seemed to be on flat square platforms which showed partly over the sand. Around each of the platforms, the sand fell in, suggesting that they had just risen out of the ground.
Steve arrived to the closest structure which had pillars holding up a triangle like roof. Looking at the structure he realised that it had risen out of the ground when he pulled the lever. He stepped inside and found a tome stone. There were markings written on it but they were indescribable to Steve. Steve stepped away from the pillared building and continued toward what looked to be the main temple. The entrance to the temple was a draw bridge. The bridge seemed to have fallen down on its own. It was partly damaged. Steve stepped onto the draw bridge and walked inside the temple.
The interior of the temple was full of gold blocks and objects. Steve was in awe. The ceiling was made out of marble and there was a golden throne at the back. Steve continued inside and was intent on collecting as much gold as possible. But as he took his first step he heard a click. Steve looked down. He had stepped on a trip wire. There was a loud boom as a block hit the floor to the left. Connected to the block was a rope. The rope then pulled two stone brick walls shut over the entrance. Steve was trapped. Sand started pouring from the walls and ceiling, rapidly filling up the room. Steve started panicking but suddenly realised something. He turned around to face the stone brick walls blocking the entrance and pulled out his pickaxe.
