Only two and a half years of absence later... two and a half years, geez...
I found my way back to Minecraft and thought how better to celebrate my return than by uploading an old project.
So here is the lighthouse of Alexandria, sometimes also called Pharos of Alexandria, reconstructed by JCHelland and myself using different sources and reconstruction attempts especially the one by Hermann Thiersch (see here).
The lighthouse itself was commissioned by Pharaoh Ptolemy I Soter, a former general of Alexander the Great, and was completed by his son.
The lighthouse stood at the harbour entrance of the commercial metropolis of Alexandria and was in use until at least the 12th century, although it was repeatedly hit hard by earthquakes.
The structural details of the building are somewhat obscure, but we have tried to create a realistic and plausible reconstruction.
I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
Sorry about the lack of pictures, by the way.

It is really sad to see a building, once impressive enough to be called a wonder of the world, now reduced to some rubble in the ocean.
At least it wasn't bulldozed on purpose like marvelous Penn Station.
Italy has some amazing ports right? My brother in law is from southern Italy and I really love it over there :)
