I have created a working television in Minecraft. It plays 12 different shows with video and audio, and functions in vanilla with no resource pack. The available shows are Game of Thrones, Westworld, Bojack Horseman, House of Cards, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Downton Abbey, Gravity Falls, Twin Peaks, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Mad Men, and Nyan Cat. The shows can be selected via buttons on the walls.


The video is created using maps in item frames placed every tick by command blocks. These maps do not represent real blocks in the world; I used the MC Map Item Tool (https://mc-map.djfun.de) to convert each frame directly from an image to a map file. The audio is represented by note blocks, which were rendered in Minecraft Note Block Studio (https://www.stuffbydavid.com/mcnbs).
