I found the height map online in the files that someone data mined from the game and imported it. It didn't translate perfectly into worldpainter though so I had to tweak a few spots and do lakes/rivers/lava myself. I also need to figure out where different biomes, trees, and buildings belong, which will be difficult because I don't actually have the game. I just have to use videos and pictures that I find online for reference. Hopefully when I'm done it will be able to be played similarly to the actual game with the help of a few mods.
Many sources online overestimate the Breath of The Wild map hundreds of square kilometers, but the most accurate estimate I've found is 61 square kilometers. The map I'm working on is slightly larger coming in at 65 square kilometers.
Map is 8064x8064 blocks
update 10-21-17: I thought the map didn't have enough build space in some parts, so I'm making the map 12160x12160 (147.86 km²). Unfortunately this will make death mountain seem a little flatter
