Ziwei palace was located in the northwest of Luoyang of Sui and Tang Dynasties. Luoyang city was the eastern capital of the Sui and Tang dynasties(581–618 AD and 618-907 AD) and was the capital of Wu Zhou dynasty(690-705 AD). Ziwei palace became the ruling center of the country during the Wu Zhou dynasty. The Later Liang Dynasty, the later Tang Dynasty and the later Jin Dynasty(in Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, 907-979 AD) also set their capital here. The palace was destroyed by war in the late Northern Song Dynasty(about 1120 AD)
