Okay so.
I actually hit 1700 subs a while back. but I never got around to creating a skin for it. And since I technically do not have 1800 yet, I feel like it'd be a little vain to celebrate it now.
But... yeah.
1762 SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBS
Thanks so much, everybody!!
I'm not going to dress it up, when I joined PMC I thought my skins were so good, I was gonna get famous right off the bat. Of course, those of us that saw those skins (which have long since been deleted) knew... otherwise. It was about a month before I finally realized, "Myra... you're not famous and your skins are crap."
So I began the long road to decency.
There were a few awkward intermediate stages where I thought unreadable fonts and freakishly contrasted palettes were cool. There was a month or so when my hair shading needed to go lie down in a garbage incinerator. When I finally started to get the hang of it was about the time I released that food-themed skin series (later I had a food-themed contest, but that's another matter). I learned how to do ombre, which took a while. I experimented with the ins and outs of minimalistic shading (which, as my friend Goat, previously the aforementioned CrashCraft66, kindly pointed out to me, was pretty bad). By the time I reached 500 subscribers, I was using the same shading style I'm using now.
Shading isn't everything, though. It took me a while to learn to detail skins attractively (I'm still learning, really.) About here was when I learned to do it properly. Recently, my greatest skinning achievements have been mastering pink palettes (as shown above), perfecting my ombre (also shown above), and developing my back shading (not shown above, but you can see some of it here).
I don't blame you at all if you skipped that wall of text. Only the nerds are into that kind of stuff, anyway.
So now, to the part you've been waiting for!
I'm hosting a contest!
To avoid irritating comment clutter or very lose-able forum posts, I instead made a WordPress site entirely devoted to this contest and contests I may have in the future.
All the contest slots are full; no more contestants will be accepted!
