A few months ago, on an undiscovered planet many light years away, the planet's inhabitants received a strange signal.
They didn't know what it was or where it had come from, but they sure were intrigued. With this event being in everyone's mind, their top scientists started investigating.
Days passed, eventually even months and the scientists still had no idea what the peculiar signal was. How could this be? Was it just a glitch in the system or did they imagine it?
The beings turned to the ancient and wise historians, searching for an explanation. Even they had trouble at first, but on one gloomy morning, they discovered something. Something that could explain the signal, finally an answer.
The planet's occupants were filled with joy and also suspense. What was the signal?
Turns out, that the alert came from a much older system, many years behind their own advancement.
The historians explained: "It was just the planet called Earth, they finally discovered more planets and with that, they found us. Only took them a few hundred year."
"NASA announces the discovery of 1,200 new planets on May 10, 2016. The discovery is made using the Kepler telescope and doubles the amount of known planets in the galaxy."
Okay, I know this is outside of the box, but... I've always been a fan of the universe and the mystery that it holds. And when I was thinking of a contest entry, I found this. So I thought of beings that "could" be out there and a matching story to go with it.
I hope I'm alive when and if we find life on other planets. Maybe their science is more advanced than ours and maybe they don't have wars and innocent lives aren't taken every day... Or maybe they'll just eat us, but still, I want to know.
