This book is about Corduroy, a stuffed teddy who is waiting to be purchased by a child from a department store.
When a little girl named Lisa notices him and wants to buy him, her mother doesn't want to spend any more money and notices that one of his buttons is missing.
Once the store closes down for the night Corduroy sets off to find his button, but with no luck a police officer finds him and brings him back to his shelf and he waits again sadly.
The next day Lisa comes back and purchases Corduroy with the money saved in her piggybank and once she returns home with him she sews a button on his missing strap. The book ends happily with them smiling and hugging.
