A few generations after the nuclear war hit, we find ourselves in a small village, with a father, mother and two brothers, they have adapted to the nuclear winter, the colld and dry air, and is managing to survive.
This family has been taught everything about the world before the war by the grandad of the family.
One day the family is attacked by cannibals, one of the brothers survive as the only one, left with his mutated body, his face half torn off, and the other side being burnt.
Because of severe brain damages, he can not feel the cold, and wanders around with very limited thoughts.
Hunger forces him into cannibalism, which does result in him getting the Kuru disease: Wiki link here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_(disease)As he wanders around to find villages and food, he begins thinking about how he survives, as he does not remember eating anything.
It does not take long before either the Kuru disease will make him too unstable to live, or the cancer he will slowly get infected with takes over, as he walks around in nuclear wastelands.
At the end, he can not stand anymore, cancer has developed too far, and he dies.
He has mutated thanks to the radiation over several generations. A nuclear winter is a result from a nuclear war, and will therefor be at effect for a long time.
The fact that he does not feel cold due to brain injuries, does in fact weaken him over time, as his body still takes damage from the cold.
Because of the lack of food, cannibalism is likely to be something humans will go for. The nuclear winter has killed of most food.
Getting cancer is likely, due to the massive amount of radiation affecting the cells in your body.
great job on getting second place! =3
The story, however, is a very interesting and enjoyable read, and by putting the skin into context improves it. I hope the judges take the time to read it as well.
Keep up the work bro its very nice.
But seriously, great skin, only thing I dislike is how shiny the skull is.
