Click the start button and type "%appdata%" and press Enter. A window will pop up with a bunch of folders. There should be one at the top labeled ".minecraft". Double-click on it. There should be another list of folders, there should be one at the top labeled "bin". Double-click on it. There should be a list of titles. Double-click on the one labeled minecraft.jar. It should open up another window with a nlist of folders in it. There should be one called "mob" near the bottom. First if you have minecraft open, close it. Then at the top there should be a png image called "char". Delete it. Then, save one of these images as a png image. Title it "char" in LOWERCASE. Then drag it into the window into the place where the old "char" image was. Another window will open asking you if you want to copy files to archive. Click yes. Then close the window and open minecraft. You should have the skin applied!
Just ask me if you need any help. And for mac users: I have no idea how to do this on a mac, so sorry.
