This was my 'runner-up' idea for the most recent skin contest, "Into The Woods."  The huge nose was a bit challenging, and I couldn't get it right in time for the deadline, so I put him off until after the contest.  

Gnomes of the Dark Woods are assigned their professions by the village elders.  When this particlar gnome came of age, he was told that he was going to be a woodcutter, given an axe, and sent out into the woods.  It wasn't until he hefted his axe into a tree that he discovered he was alergic to tree bark!  He begged the eldes to let him change professions, but they refused to listen to him and sent him back to work.  For the last 65 years he's been forced to cut down trees for a living, his allergies making his nose permanently red and swollen - needless to say, he's not a very happy little old man.
