His name was Ásvaldur (meaning “devine power” or “devine ruler”). He was strong and fierce, and quite often lost his temper.
He lived in Iceland, along with his two brothers and his sister. His father was an important person in the village.
His mother was dead. She had died when she was sick and an old quack gave her some “medicine” that ended up killing her.
So he sought to kill the wicked doctor, but the doctor fled from the village and hid in the cold snowy mountains.
But at last, after around thirteen years (none knew for sure how long), Ásvaldur got his revenge. He tracked the wicked quack and found him, skewering him with his spear. “Sefnd síðar!” were the words of Ásvaldur, which means: “Revenge at last!”
Ásvaldur then went to his home and lived the rest of his days happily.
