Giratina used to be friends with God until he abused his powers. As punishment, Giratina was sent to the distortion world for eternity. The distortion world is another dimension that is unknown to most creatures, leaving many believing Giratina to be a myth.

Before being sent to the Distortion World, Giratina was most likely a celestial creature in the pokemon world. Giratina was part of the creation trio, and Giratina was meant to represent antimatter. Antimatter has lots to relate to space, as it is believed that antimatter is created in space. Since it hasn't been stated that Giratina shared dimensions with Palkia, Dialga, Arceus, or had a dimension for itself before the Distortion World, Giratina must have been responsible for maintaining balance of antimatter in the depths of space in the pokemon world.



To make the explanation simpler, I'm going to use the game's version of the distortion world and not the anime.

The distortion world is where God sent Arceus to live after abusing his powers. Before the distortion world, Giratina was friends with other pokemon such as Palkia and Dialga, the ones responsible for maintaining time and space. Since Palkia and Dialga had a purpose, it is believed that Giratina has a large purpose as well. The best explanation is stated by the main antagonist, the main world and the distortion world are like DNA and RNA, both can't live without the other. This implies that Giratina is responsible for the distortion world, or as the antagonist states, RNA. Since DNA and RNA supports and connects to each other, both the pokemon world and the distortion world must in some way connect with each other as well despite being in different dimensions. Because of this and the fact that Giratina represents antimatter, the distortion world etiher acts as a part of the deepest depths of space or a different version of space that Giratina inhabits and is responsible for regardless. (The game states that the distortion world is either another universe or a parallel world.)

There are rotating clouds in the background that somewhat resemble a whirlpool, making the land you see feel small and the world seem more expanded and infinite such as space.



Gravity is also distorted in this dimension, which means the gravity is far different from earth, but somewhat similar to space. To elaborate, there are areas in the world where gravity is lighter or heavier than others. When you jump onto other platforms in this world, you float more in the air for much longer and farther than from earth. Places that revolve around heavier gravity are the elevator platforms. Once you step on a certain spot, the platform you're on can sink or elevate quickly. The Boulders physics functions normally as well, as it sinks quickly once it falls.

There are also platforms that you can't interact with. They look like dark blue icicles with bright crystals on top compared to the ones you can walk on that have a reddish rocky surface on top of it. Idk why I'm saying this, I just put it here cause I love sans

Although gravity can be realistic in some moments, the world itself is mostly distorted. platforms can face sideways yet you can still jump on them, small platforms move up and down quickly, and the only waterfall in this dimension is upside down. There are disappearing and reappearing platforms and plants that alter once you get close to them.




I went out of my comfort zone on this one thanks to Roobus’s guide on symmetry and asymmetry. The skin turned out better than what I expected and I feel proud about it. I also made this skin on a skin editor I never used before (skindex) and I never plan on going back (minersneedcoolshoes)!
