The fairies, gnomes, elves and other miniature magical folk of the jungle always carry a bag of salt with them, lest they encounter the terrible gnome-eating goliath slug. It attacks by shooting an extremely adhesive magical liquid out of its mouth, trapping its prey. Usually the slug will slither away if one throws a handful of salt in its direction, unless they happened to have encountered a slug that had gone a long time since its last meal.

Mating habits: (also thankfully) Very mellow during their reproductive season because these slugs are hermaphrodites, unlike other sexually dimorphic animals that become aggressively competitive against each other to win over the opposite sex.
Status: Endangered

The council of Magical Fauna Preservation has ruled the hunting of the Gnome-Eating Goliath Slug unlawful. Those unlucky enough to have provoked these slugs are encouraged to throw salt to defend themselves and kill them only if it's necessary.
