Born to a sailor family long ago in Scandinavia, young Haldor Asbjørn who sought adventure and riches formed a ragtag group of pirates and bought a small boat and set off into the Norwegian sea looting fishing boats and naval ships.
One faithful day Haldor encountered a large looming ship bearing the flag with a jolly roger with horns and long sickles instead of bones. The boat docked Haldors group and an army of pirates stormed down the plank massacring Haldor’s men. They tied Haldor up and took him prisoner seeing he had a significant bounty on his head. The captain simply known as Sinne took it upon himself to hold Haldor in his own captains quarters.
Haldor did not want to die. He did not know what possessed him but while the guards were switching duty Haldor broke free and using a plank of wood he ripped out of the floor knocked out all of Sinne’s men until all that stood between himself and freedom was Sinne. Haldor ran at Sinne with his makeshift club in hand and with one strike sent Sinne flying off the side of the boat. The Skattejeger was his.
Hidden in the stash of treasure amassed by Sinne was a peculiar green crystal which when held by Haldor made him feel immensely powerful. He bound the crystal to his upper arm hoping to use it against future enemies. The crystal eventually fused into his arm and turned his right eye green. He became known to the world as Bloodbeard after the blood of his foes dyed his beard a deep red color. Bloodbeard’s terrifying reign of the Norwegian seas expanded into massive fleets of pirates following his command. The Skattejeger pirates dissolved after the untimely and mysterious death of Bloodbeard. His treasure was never found.
