At the very pinnacle of human existence, we answered to no god. Religion was a thing of the past, as we began to realize that science was the true way of life. However small pockets of people remained, who believed that we still answered to someone in a higher place. These people created their own god, a fearsome being to be worshiped, but others did not take so kindly to it. It was because of it lack of worshipers that it unleashed its power upon the world, opening a portal to a new dimension of creatures of the night, all but pushing humanity into extinction. Entire countries were brought down and overrun. Once its work was done, it faded away into the void, awaiting its rebirth.
