I Am A Survivor...

Please read the background for my skin, I worked hard on it and would hate for it to go to waste :)


~Day 1 of the Apocalypse

I prepared as much as any other man for this day, the Apocalypse...by laughing at the idea. I laughed at the idea that our world would ever come to this, that the world would ever end. Everything was so perfect, so beautiful, our lives were perfect. There was no disease, no crime, no war, no pollution...just...peace. It seemed too good to be true. Then, today, as I left work, a loud noise hummed through the air, then a roar, and a shake and several buildings exploded in the distance. Flames lit up the night sky and the smoke made it impossible for any light from the starry sky to reach us. People ran screaming, children grasping their mothers hands were to be trampled by the crowds. I could have saved them, picked them up and carried them off with me...but no...I ran. I ran to the edge of town, sweat dripping into my eyes, dust and dirt rushing up against me. Once I was a safe distance away from the flames I barricade myself into a house, and watched from the window as dark figures ripped into the terrorized people outside.

There is no need for a candle or flash light as I write, for the light from the city burning in the distance was enough...and the stench ...the stench of burning flesh makes it hard for me to sleep...and the shouts and screams doesn't seem to end. I don't think I'll sleep tonight.

~Day 13 of the Apocalypse

A few people seem to have gathered into the buildings around me, claiming it, and making it safe from the things outside. I made it clear that I was in the building across the street to them, shooting a flare at the base of their building. Surprisingly, they came over to talk to me. I got to know them, found out that he was a father and he had his three sons and one of his sons girlfriends with him. He made it clear he wanted no trouble, but also proposed a plan to take back the city.

~Day 14 of the Apocalypse

It started with one house then another, as we slowly gained land we drove out "The Creatures from Beyond"...as my new "Neighbors" called them. We tried to live out our lives and help one another, but it seemed hard, especially having the fear that they could get infected at any moment.

...The city still burns in the distance.

~Day 42 of the Apocalypse

We've completely fortified a small portion of this city block and survivors from around the city are getting drawn in. We had several shop owners bring in goods, people with weapons and supplies, and even a few girls came into our city block. One caught my eye though, a pregnant woman...God bless her soul, it's going to be hard to raise a child in this world.

...Of course...I always have that fear...that we aren't just attracting humans, we're also attracting The Creatures from Beyond, but my neighbor says he hasn't seen one in weeks. Even so, I won't get my hopes up.

~Day 77 of the Apocalypse

Everything we had was ruined. Bandits came in and raided the place, no one could stop them. It was just so sudden. Even if the bandits didn't get the people living with us, The Creatures from Beyond will sure pick up the stragglers.

...once again...all I did was run...

~Day 82 of the Apocalypse

I'm tired, and weak, this Journal seems pointless as the days go on. I just want this all to end...

~Day 87 of the Apocalypse

I came across a diner in the middle of nowhere today and was going to scavenge through it...but instead I came across this beautiful girl, first person I've seen in a week or so. She threatened me with a spoon and fork, said there was nothing left and other raiders had already came here and left her to die. Laughing a bit in the back of my head, I quickly made it clear that I didn't want to hurt her...and she broke into laughter, and I broke into laughter too.

She was pretty bruised up, don't want to know what those bandits did to her...but I can probably guess. I wrapped up her arms and legs which where cut up and made a splint for her twisted ankle. We talked the entire time I did this. She told me her story, where she was when it happened, how she reacted, and I read from my journal. Even though everything around us seemed bleak, we seemed to be happy overall.

I woke up in the middle of the night to the noise of her teeth chattering. So I took off my coat, spread it out, and wrapped my arms around her. I could see her smile in the dim light of the moon.


~Day 93 of the Apocalypse

We found some shelter and supplies today, loaded it into a kart we found a few days ago and set up camp. Its nice that she used to work in a diner, she makes the best out of what we've got to eat.

They've caught up to us, The Creatures from Beyond, but today, I don't want to run, I have something to fight for, something to live for now.

~Day 94 of the Apocalypse

Six days, its been six days. I can't believe we're still alive. I've traveled with her, laughed with her, fought for her, cared for her...I even fell in love with her, and you want to know the funny part? We never asked each other our names. It seems kind of silly, doesn't it? But the truth is, we don't need them anymore, they're just another thing tying us down to the world we used to live in. She is my love, my light, the thing I have to fight for in this world, and I...I am a survivor for her, and she is a survivor for me.
