Soviet military leader, famous commander, commander of the Western, Kalininsky, Northwestern, St. epnym , Second and First Ukrainian Fronts in the Great Patriotic War. Marshal of the Soviet Union (02/20/1944), twice Hero of the Soviet Union (07/29/1944, 06/01/1945), holder of the Order of Victory (1945). Commander-in-Chief of the United Armed Forces of the member states of the Warsaw Pact Organization (1955-1960), First Deputy Minister of Defense of the USSR (1956-1960), Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces (1946-1950, 1955-1956).
He brilliantly organized and carried out a number of important operations, participated in the Battle of Moscow, the Battle of Kursk, the assault on Berlin, and liberated Prague.
