About Joan (1333-1348):
Joan of England, beloved daughter of King Edward III and his Queen, lived a short life of only 14 with a grievous end, caused by the Black Death. In her young years she grew bonded together with her brother Edward, her sister Isabella and their cousin Joan of Kent.
In 1345, the last few years of her life, she engaged to Peter of Castille, birthed from Maria of Portugal and Alfonso XI of Castille. The summer of 1348, Joan and Peter departed from Portsmouth with fortune and protection from her father, sailing alongside four English ships. Their destination was Bordeaux, France, where some of the familyo s castles lay. Many warned them of the rapidly spreading Plague, but they continued onward with their voyage. Upon arriving they continued ignoring the signs of the Black Death and headed towards the royal castle of Gironde, accompanied by numerous leading officials and over one-hundred English bowmen, including some from the Battle of Crecy.
While all were in Bordeaux, a catastrophic outbreak of the plague occurred, and it never came to the thoughts of any leader to migrate elsewhere. Members of the embarked started to catch the sickness and die. Joan reacted and fled to a smaller village which bought some time, but later was where her final breathes dispersed, September 2, 1348.

The Black Death (The Plague):
The Black Death was an extreme disease covering almost all of Europe with the span of 7 years. It spread quickly among the crowded streets and even the desolate countryside, taking the lives of those infected with in only a few days. Surprisingly, there are only a few symptoms after initial contact with the plague.
Once one came in contact with the disease lymph nodes, organs that play an important role in the immune system, that where located at the armpits, thighs and stomach began to swell up to the size of apples. This was followed by an acute fever and vomiting blood. The flesh and skin of the victim turned black as it started to die.

Joan Infected
Here is an edited version of the skin to show how she might have looked once she was victimized. This is definitely not as nice as the original but I thought it would be good to give an example.
