This is Kvothe, the main character from Patrick Rothfuss' Heroic fantasy The KingKiller Chronicle. This follows the autobiography of Kvothe's past at the University for 'magic' to become an Arcanist. This relates to the theme for Magic because unlike most medieval fantasy with mages and magic, this only has Arcanists, which others who are ignorant about the subject would believe them to be mages or wizards.. To the world it's magic but to someone who understands it it's more like science and alchemy. Explained plausible magic.
