Standing on top of the building, Aleksei felt the wind rushing through his hair. He knew what he was going to do. Hell, he had planned this for weeks. He just wanted to end the suffering that he was putting his mind through.

He looked down at the city. The city he had lived in his whole life, the city that he knew inside and out, the city he would die in. The city of Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Aleksei felt the tears running down his face. The events that had led up to this decision were all rushing back to his head, one by one. It all hurt him.

The first memory that went to his head happened three months ago. School had just started, and he was a mess. His parents were on the verge of divorce, his sister had just gotten arrested for drug use, and his teachers were already getting him in trouble. His stress levels were through the roof.

As Aleksei walked down the hallway of his school, his eyes focused on the ground, he collided with another person. He fell to the ground and looked up. His heart stopped for a second. It was Ivan, his crush. Aleksei had liked Ivan for a while, even though he knew that it was borderline illegal.

Aleksei's parents were major homophobes, along with many of the people in Russia. He was scared to come out to anybody. He was scared to tell people that he was bisexual. He didn't want the public humiliation.

"Are you okay, Aleksei?" Ivan asked, helping him up. He nodded. "Yeah, thanks." He didn't know it at the time, but his face was as red as a tomato. Ivan smiled and pat his back before walking away. Aleksei liked that smile. That damn smile that started this whole thing.

A gust of wind knocked Aleksei back from his place on the rooftop. He swore and stood back up. His long hair, swept back into a ponytail, was blowing frantically in the wind. He felt like he was in a video game, one of those action RPG ones. It seemed like nobody had noticed that he was on top of the building, and that was for the better.

The second memory hit him like a truck. Two months after the run-in with Ivan, the two had become close friends. Aleksei didn't want to confess his feelings to Ivan, but he had a bit of a suspicion that Ivan had some sort of feeling towards him. Aleksei had even hugged Ivan once, and he didn't seem to mind.

The two were sitting at a nearby playground during their lunch period. They were sitting in silence, though it wasn't awkward. Aleksei was actually smiling, and Ivan had wrapped his scarf around Aleksei. This was normal, but Aleksei had started to realize what Ivan meant when he did this.

"Hey, uh, Aleksei," Ivan said, breaking the silence. "I want to ask you something."

"Hm? Oh, sure. Go ahead." he replied.

Ivan put his arm around Aleksei. They sat in silence for a moment before Ivan finally asked, "Will you go out with me?"

Aleksei blushed. His heart started beating fast with adrenaline. He couldn't think of what to stay and instead started to stammer. Ivan just smiled.

"Y-yes," Aleksei managed to stutter. Ivan hugged him tightly, and Aleksei blushed more.

The memory may have seemed happy, but soon after that Aleksei's parents found out. They were furious and threatened to kick him out if he didn't break up with Ivan. Aleksei had to oblige since he would have had nowhere else to stay. It broke his heart, as well as Ivan's.

But Ivan understood. He sympathized with Aleksei, and he promised that they would never leave each other's side. He had assured Aleksei that they were soulmates. He held his hand for a few seconds before letting go.

Now, thinking back, Aleksei hated his life. He hated his parents for separating him from his love. He hated the people in Russia for hating LGBT people. He hated everyone except Ivan.

"Aleksei!" he heard from behind him. He turned on the ledge to see Ivan, looking stressed and upset. Aleksei hopped down. Ivan ran over and hugged Aleksei, crying and saying something about his parents. Aleksei hugged back and cried more than he had been.

Ivan explained how his parents had found out about the two boys, and how they had gotten so furious that they had disowned him. Ivan relied on his parents heavily for a place to stay, just as Aleksei had, and it had left him homeless at age 16.

"Follow me. I have a solution, and we can stay together forever." Aleksei said. Ivan nodded, and Aleksei took his hand. They stood on the edge of the roof together. By this time a crowd had gathered below them.

Aleksei looked Ivan in the eyes. "Let us go, together, forever." They both held each other, looking down at the crowd below. Some of the crowd was shouting slurs at them and encouraging them to jump, and others were trying to discourage them. But they had already made up their minds.

"Ready?" Ivan asked, and Aleksei nodded. They did a countdown and jumped.

Time seemed to slow down. The two seemed to be falling in slow motion. Aleksei felt great, he would be spending the last moments of his life with the boy he loved. He kissed Ivan on the lips for a few seconds. He shouldn't have jumped. He knew it was stupid, but it happened anyway.

The two boys closed their eyes and let their fate sink in.
