The village sirens went off. Children and families ran everywhere, trying to flee from the incoming danger. My best friend, if you can call him a friend, Lee, came into the room. We both stared at each other for a second, before he finally said "It's here."

I nodded my head and went back into my dusty old closet to grab a few things, like my sword and bow. I turned back around and looked out the window, seeing the chaos.

"My dad always said I was going to be a hero," I say to myself, and I rush out the door.

As I left, the town seemed completely silent, almost empty. In the horizon I saw the creature I'd sworn to kill. It was rushing over the desert hills, covered in battle armour, with sharp yellow teeth and a missing paw.

About a year ago, the monster had attacked and taken my dog, Buster's, life. I was now completely alone.

It rushed up to me, a huge army following from behind, coming over the sand dunes about 200 metres behind. The wolf snarled, and charged right at me, about to slash me at any moment, but then stopped. It was as if it didn't want to hurt me. I didn't want to hurt it either, and I wasn't sure why, at the time.

It walked towards me and stood right in front of me, but instead of evil I saw compassion in it's deep blue eyes. It looked at me and spoke the word "Ruria," which means friend in the ancient wolf language.

I observed it and noticed it... looked a LOT like Buster. And I realized this thing hadn't taken my dogs life; it was him.

We stared at each other for a moment, when suddenly a horn went off in the distance. We both jumped back, and the wolf no longer looked friendly. It stared at me with cold, unblinking eyes and growled as an army of I'm guessing 500 wolves came from behind.

Buster lunged at me, and I lunged at him. I knew there would be tears today.
