Naked Snake is a member of Force Operations X (aka. FOX), an elite special forces unit within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) led by Major Zero. Throughout both the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater, he is tasked to save the world from a world war, using his skills, training, and experiences to shift the balance of power in favor of world peace.
He would eventually fight and defeat his mentor, The Boss, earning himself the title "Big Boss", which he would carry for the entire Metal Gear Saga until his death in 2014.
