The uniform adopted by the NVA for combat was a combination between Wehrmacht and Soviet styles of uniform, with the khaki color of the camo coming from Soviet style, and the cut of the uniform being more Wehrmacht in style. The "rain" camo pattern, or Strichtarn, was a very popular camouflage pattern, being used by several other militaries in the Warsaw Pact, such as the Polish, Czech, Croat, and Uzbek militaries during and after the Cold-War
