After the monochromaticity of the Snowy Owl skin I felt I needed to pull out all the stops and create a colorful skin. That pretty much narrowed the field of animals (my skinning specialty) to birds - in particular, parrots. I've always found parrots to be a little spooky - the way they mimic what you say and the way they turn their heads and study you with just one eye. They also turn their heads to preen their wings. To reproduce this turned head effect, I broke with convention and rotated the head mapping 45 degrees. This had the added benefit of making a more credible beak possible. Since the rotation makes the head seem larger I tried to create larger, more shaded feathers than on my other bird skins. I think the end result is pretty nice when viewing the skin from off axis angles.

I think that this is a fun skin if you like colorful things, birds, or just want to sneak aboard a pirate ship...rawwk!
