Like most kids, I was afraid of the dark- of the monsters that lay hidden within my closet. It would be an entirely different world when the lights were turned off, as if my entire bedroom was teleported into a distant dimension.
The shadows became monsters, the walls became eyes, and the creaks down the hall became cries of warning, " Get away! Get away!" Every time I got scared, my mother would say,
" The night will end soon, the night will end soon."
Then I would close my eyes, as tightly as I can make them. And wait.
And wait...
And wait...
Until the first rays of dawn struck the cold windows. Only then would I peer around my room that was once a dark abyss and see:
My closet was closed.
My posters still hung.
My LEGOs were still scattered around the floor.
And my silly glow-in-the-dark stars still stuck to the wall.
I was back in my house and with my family, ready to face another golden day.
This skin depicts the sun, putting an emphasis on the rays. The sun is from the perspective of a child. Thus, the sun looks bright and colorful, almost cartoon-ish. On the back, I tried to create what seems to be a rip in the skin with the night poking through. I wanted it to show the dominion of light over darkness.
The sun was my hero when I was young. I believe its light was a hero to others as well.
BTW I used the Alex skin model, not sure if it makes a difference.
