In 1883, a young Londoner was caught up in a mystical tragedy that took the lives of 104 people. The sole survivor, Richard Swift walked away from the incident with amnesia and control over the Shadowlands. For the next century, he'd struggle with his place in the world--occasionally battling the Golden Age Flash and fending off attacks from generations of the Ludlow Family. After falling in love with Opal City, he began to grapple with the depths of the darkness within him.
He is the SHADE.
