Goldbug was once a drifter named Bumblebee, who lived on the streets of Polyhex, begging. One day, he joined the tyrannical Optimus Prime's Autobots and became commander of the Seekers following the murder of Drench by Prime for being weak, leading the speed demon Blurr and loyalty-questioning Sideswipe. Later, Bumblebee was asked by Optimus Prime to lead an ambush against Sideswipe, for he believed Sideswipe was conspiring against him because he killed Drench.

Sideswipe escaped and joined the Decepticons, leading him to be replaced by the scheming Rodimus (the SG-Autobot equivalent of G1 Starscream). One day, in a battle on Earth, Bumblebee had Deception air warrior Thundercracker in front of his gun barrel, and was about to pull the trigger when Megatron fired a pointblank shot from his fusion cannon that severely wounded Bumlebee, leading to him to be reformatted and taking the name Goldbug.

Following the end of the Great War, Goldbug split off from Optimus Prime, who had taken over Iacon and renamed it Pax. Rodimus had joined Ultra Magnus' Wreckers, and Blurr became a bodyscrapper (SG version of the Mercenary), leaving Goldbug to turn what remained of Kaon into his nation, Gold City. Once he succeeded in kidnapping Starscream, whose mutant spark was the key to awakening Metroplex, he had Slicer (a spy in his ranks for Ultra Magnus) torture Screamer until he gave up the key within his spark. Jetfire tried to stop Goldbug, but failed. Then, Skywarp teleported into the base and was killed by Goldbug, before the Insecticons came in later, but they were dispatched by Goldbug and his Throttlebots.

The Insecticons were in fact a distraction, as Megatron and newly-reunited Decepticons infiltrated Gold City, taking back the nation that was once theirs. Goldbug, furious at the fact that he was about to lose everything, fired his gun at Starscream before Jetfire could stop him, just barely missing his spark. Jetfire freed the wounded Starscream, but then Goldbug ran his hand through the back of Starscream's chest and ripped out his spark just as the two scientists tried to escape. Goldbug drove off, Slicer had slipped away in the chaos, and Jetfire took out his anger on the Throttlebots, who he killed.

Goldbug spent the rest of his days at the dig site of Metroplex, trying to use Starscream's spark and the key within to awaken the sleeping giant. On a mission from Ultra Magnus to secure Metroplex (because whoever controls the titans controls Cybertron), Slicer visited Goldbug and pretended to be his ally to get close to him so he could learn how Metroplex ticks. However, after the two dispatched the Air Strike Patrol together (they were on a mission from Megatron to scout Metroplex), Goldbug exposed Slicer, revealing that he had figured out Slicer was working for Magnus a little bit before the fight with the Air Strike Patrol. However, before Goldbug could attack Slicer, Jetfire (also scouting the area) landed on him, crushing the tiny tyrant as revenge for killing his friend.




So glad I could finally finish this! I started making this skin on January 14th, and didn't go back to it until around last Wednesday (the 18th).
