Hey- this is my entry for the Arctic Creatures Skin Contest- I hope that if you like it, you'll leave a favorite or a diamond. And now to the science-y stuff.

Snow Golems are genetically modified experiments gone wrong. A hybrid between a human and an unknown creature, if you will. While in a lab experiment, two humans were being tweaked and changed, but awoke during the process. Because the genes were not reconnected, and the DNA was turned around minorly, they started forming new abilities and powers. Clumps started to grow around them, heated armor that protect this mythical creature from cold temperatures down to -80 degrees Fahrenheit. Their eyes phased to a liquid-like substance, held in their heads by a mask of 'armor'. The excess of skin and layers of fat rapidly surrounding them heated them, so they ran north to find colder terrain. They had the speed of tigers, almost flying with every bounding step. They had the strength of gorillas, able to rip apart any man with one hand. They hide out in the ancient arctics, below ground and away from all society, knowing they will not bring good luck. They are almost immortal when it comes to age, the genes allowing them to live for thousands of years at a time, and by then they will have already reproduced and brought more Snow Golems into the world.
