Meaning:  

  Somber Screens is not a joyful skin, though I wish it was. It's the artistic embodiment of my fears. I do not believe screens are going away any time soon. I predict that they will dominate the future just as they do today. There is nothing inherently wrong with them, in fact, they do a great deal of good for our society. They display information instantly. I would not be able to make pixel art without them, we wouldn't be able to play Minecraft without them, and we wouldn't have this community without them.   
  My message in this skin is not that screens are entirely bad, it is that we are addicted to them. There is not a whole lot being done about this, either. Parents are giving their children tablets and phones before they can even write their names. Families are scrolling instead of laughing, kids are texting instead of talking. For a time I was lost in my screen, and getting away from that was the best thing I ever did for myself. I know that I am not everyone, however, and I worry that it will be harder for others to escape as time goes on.

My only fear is the future.

Execution:  

  There is not much to say about the actual skin other than I tried light sourcing again! It's a lot of fun and I enjoy the challenge. This palette is all over the place with blues, purples, pinks, greens, and grays. I really like how it turned out. I wasn't sure about the bow on the back but I felt it added some more to look at. This is the first time I tried messing with curved arms. I am not sure if I will do it again but I am glad I tried it. I enjoyed being unique with the lighting. The phone is blue but the light is pink, it's weird and funky and it doesn't make sense but I like it. It makes it more interesting to look at and it emphasizes the screen because it pops. Either way, I hope you enjoy it! :>
