on a cloudy day you walk
to the river you go to find her
the raindrops fall on the water, making tiny ripples on the blue surface
and then you see her
at first only a faded glimpse of some human-like form in the water
then clearer, sparkling and shimmering on the surface
she is there
her beaded blue gown blending in with water around her
her face shining as light reflects off of her
with her hands she gathers the fish to her
she speaks to them without making a sound, making them her friends
she welcomes the rain with a laugh
and she frowns at the cloudless sunny days
for the rain revives her
and the sun weakens her
