Relation and Description.
(The Joy Luck club is a book based on a series of stories told by women whilst they play majong. Each of the women are of Chinese origin, thus half of these stories take place somewhere in China. I thought it'd be fitting.)
In the "The Joy Luck Club," there is a chapter named "The Moon Lady." In this chapter, the main character of this section is traveling by floating pavilion with her family, to preform a ceremony for the Moon Lady. The Moon lady grants secret wishes, and the character is excited for this ceremony.
The character, towards the end of the chapter, falls off of the pavilion and is scooped up by a fishing boat, which then leaves her on the shore of the island where the ceremony would take place. She over hears the ceremony taking place and hears an announcer talk about the story of the moon lady. The character believes the demonstrator/ dancer of the moon lady is the real thing, so she follows the woman after her performance. What the character sees is depicted of a grotesque woman, to tell her wish.
So. There's what I though the "Moon Lady" would look like (after the performance). A woman-esk figure, but with a monstrous twist.
