Ever since he was little, Joe wanted to fly through the air like a superhero. So much so, in fact, that he hurt himself many times while attempting his own flight suit designs. First came a helicopter backpack, then a pocket hang glider, and finally some sail-canvas angel wings. Eventually, each of his designs failed. Discouraged by gravity’s victory, Joe moved on and spent most of his like working as a flight attendant.


Not content with just being up high, Joe renewed his flying passion after a few years and sought out a wingsuit trainer. After plenty of skydives, base jumping, and wind tunnel tests, Joe was finally awarded with a wingsuit license. Excited, Joe went and purchased the best wingsuit he could find, although it did take quite a hit towards his wallet.


Joe wanted his first flight to be the best there could be. He found a helicopter pilot who was willing to take him to a drop point, and set out. As the helicopter climbed higher and higher, Joe donned his shiny new yellow-and-blue wingsuit. As he looked at himself, he found it quite ridiculous looking, but he could ignore it for the lifelong dream. The helicopter came to a slow hover. Joe strode over to the drop door, and frowned. He thought that this was too low. He shouted to the pilot to take him even higher, Above the Clouds. The pilot looked nervous, but he did as Joe commanded. A thick fog surrounded the helicopter, and it became very dark. Joe was unafraid, with the prospect to flying filling his thoughts. Soon, the helicopter rose above the cloud line, and Joe could see white fluffy fields spreading as far as the eye could see. “This was more like it”, he thought. He told the pilot to stop, and wished his farewell. Afterwards, he threw the door open, smelled the fresh air, and leaped into the sky.


The folds of Joe’s wingsuit immediately spread open, and he felt the wind pick up under him. “This was it”, he thought. He was finally flying. Joe sped up, enjoying the feeling of being completely free. The helicopter soon disappeared from view, but Joe was not worried, as he had a parachute when it came time to land. Joe closed his eyes, in the sheer bliss of beating gravity. But when Joe opened his eyes again, he became quite afraid.


A huge, black, thundercloud loomed in front of Joe. His mind raced, but he knew he couldn’t go around this thing. Joe also knew that if he went under the cloud, he might get struck by lightning. And that was something he didn’t want. Joe plunged at full speed into the cloud.


The first thing Joe noticed within the cloud was the very brightness of the place. It didn’t seem like the inside of a storm cloud. It actually seemed quite peaceful. Joe quietly glided along, as if pulled foreword by an unknown force. Then it hit Joe. He WAS being pulled by a force. Trying to correct his course, the flaps on his suit became useless. He was being pulled in by something. Joe could do nothing, and had no idea what was happening. He looked around, but could see nothing through the bright cloud. Suddenly, Joe crashed into a hard surface and blacked out.


When Joe awoke, he found himself on a hard, smooth surface. He looked around, and found himself to be on some kind of road, with strange, white buildings on each side. As he looked up, he found himself at the feet of a person... No... This wasn’t a person… It had pure white skin, a body like a human, but no hair. Just unblinking, sky-blue eyes. The thing spoke. “Welcome”. It said. “We have been expecting you”.
