Backstory:

Formerly the lord of a (by now, dead) town, Solomon was buried with the armor he wore to battle in life. Though decades later, after the people moved on from what was thought to be deity-blessed grounds, a disturbance ran across pavement long since trodden upon. The only trace was dust kicked up by hurried steps. A young soul who appears to handle magic and strange items alike with their reagents, trinkets and focus strapped to their form under a mottled grey robe. As with their darker gloves, stained with dirt, blackened by unknown means. Venturing further, the trespasser grew miffed as they were only finding crumbled houses and abandoned belongings. Perhaps they held worth to someone, but not to this mage. Eventually, they came upon the graveyard of the town, unlike some, they weren't enthusiastic about rummaging through tombs whose shapes seemed to warp more with each passing. Alas, they're set on returning with something. Persistence payed off for this one today, sweeping off layers of dust from the lord's crypt, they forced apart the seal with a hush incantation, as it felt wrong to speak brashly in a place of rest. Although it might be late for morals at this point- they shook their head to dismiss the mental quips. As they pried open the coffin, it produced clouds of dust which forced the intruder to cough and rub at their reddened eyes, before calming to a pause with a look of awe.

There it was at last. Something to show indeed.

The still gleaming armor contrasted with its dilapidated wearer, adding to how strange the sight was.

Cracking their knuckles, the mage took a moment to collect their mind. Reciting a spell while holding a carved bone focus, semblances of unnatural colors to the dull area appeared around him, but faded as quick as they appeared. Directing the energy of the charged spell towards the deceased lord, the previous colors lit anew and crashed, somehow it looked like thickened water as it splashed but gathered to ooze off the tomb's edges. The collision caused the walls around to shift with dust spilling down like poured flour. Covering their face with the crook of their arm, the mage shielded against the devastating light. Though they would quickly pull it away upon hearing the clatter of metal and otherworldly echos, agitated by the twist of nature's lines.

Backing up, the mage bit hard on their lip, taking in a sharp breath at the result they've conjured. What went wrong? This wasn't the intention, yet this is what they achieved. The room turned cold as the armor creaked, but not from a corpse, rather a black and featureless void that took upon some humanoid shape, but the mage became less and less sure as it warped and grew. Eventually it ceased the spurt but the offender couldn't tell for sure as it's silhouette shifted despite laying still.

Hesitating to make things worse, who knows how.. whatever it was, would react to them. But at this point..

"Are y- Are you alive?"

The armor rose up, floating as it came to stand, metal clinking as it shifted, facing away from the caster that brought it together. From the towering form, a voice resounded,

"I should not be. Why am I brought back, defiler?"

Furrowing their brows, the mage couldn't take their eyes away from the revenant they've anchored to this world. Deciding to simply comply as to not further anger who was before them. They answered unsteadily,

"I did not mean to bring you back from the dead, I mm- ment to phase the armor away from your corpse. That was my intention, but-- this is the very opposite."

Luckily, the spirit retained its personality, keeping a grim calm instead of lashing out immediately. The possessed suit crossed its arms, metal clinking against itself, the voice wasn't as composed now, for it echoed around the room.

"Release me from this damnation, mage. I have accomplished my duty to the world."

"I-I'm not that exph- experienced sir- I mean Lord. Nor have I casted such a spell on a corpse before.." The ashamed mage trailed off as they stood frozen, their fear seeped in deeper with each soul-crushing moment.

The armor turned, hood and helmet hid nothing as the mage was met with pure black.

Raising the helmet, the suit took a step forward after another, the heels clicking against the stone floor, "You. Will. Undo. This." Enunciating every word as if it were being imprinted into every fiber and energy that made up the mage before him. The possessed armor stood freakishly tall, easily looming over the short stature of the sweltering culprit.

"Ple- Please! I don't know how to reverse o-or undo what I did to you! I don't kn- know--" As the mage was breaking down, they quickly held up the focus that had exacted the deed,

"PHASE!"

The room quieted instantly for a brief second as the realization set in, the guilty had turned coward and fled. Any sense of composure sputtered as it was crushed by the outbreak of raw fury as the suit shuddered with visible ferocity.

"DEFILER!"

The absolutely enraged soul's cry boomed from beyond the graveyard's depths, resounding from the ghost town. Rushing up and outside of his former crypt, the revenant sprinted across the broken paved roads, blind to what became of his home despite the path giving way to each thunderous step he took. The former lord was dead-set on finding the bastard who raked him back into a wretched half-existence.
