For some Vlad is the thirsty vampire from the book of Bram Stoker, for others is the most evil man that lived on earth, and for others he is a hero, mostly for the people of Roumania, who see him as a defender of christianity and a simbol of justice, it is say that during his reign no one dare to steal anithing, thif being hardly punished. Yes he had a thing for the pointi stick from wich it come his nikname "the Impaler" it was a common metod o torture in medieval time and he take it from the turks. Vlad was a cunning man, and a good tactician he won many battle against turks using against them guerila fight, he almost killed the Sultan Mehmed II, at the battle of Targoviste, thought he was a wery hated man by german merchants, hungarians and by some of his boiars (court noble), later he is betrayed by the hungarian king Matei Corvinus, and he is inprisoned for 12 years, because he wanted paece with turks,others say he do it to protect him by the anger of german merchants (Vlad imposed taxem on them, they been a privileged nation and they had a vip status, Vlad wanted to make thing equals for every one, thhose whi opose where killed, you know how...), after those 12 years he return on the throne because a new war betwen againt turks started, his cousin Mihai the Great the king of Moldova, buy his freadom to return in Wallachia to fight with him against turks, but Vlad is shortly asassinated by his court nobles.
may be you know, maybe not, but he was called the Impaler, because his favorite method of torture was to impale people with a wooden stick like a spear, it was a slow and a painfull death, the only people that taste this were turks, thiefs, or traitors! He is know for his forest of impaled people, that scared the Ottoman army when they invaded Wallachia (South of today Romania).
As a note, the forest was full of turks! As Wallachia was a vassal country before the war, so those where ottoman officials, soldiers and others.
It is sayd that Mehmed the II after seeing that place, sayd "I can't beat a man who is capable of doing so great things and who is capable of more".
