Arzenal | 1.17 512x ESRGAN Vanilla Minecraft | minecraft re-imagined

Some people have tried making ESRGAN upscaled texture packs of Minecraft before, and they look ok, but most of them are for older versions, have unfinished content, or generally don't look that good.

So, I took 16x Vanilla Minecraft, put it through a pixel art upscaling ESRGAN model, and got results that I am quite proud of!

I also added 2 add-ons for the main texture pack, Arzenal 3D, which adds depth to the texture pack, and Arzenal Alpha, an add-on that gives Arzenal an Alpha Minecraft feel.

But, what exactly IS ESRGAN? According to Xintao Wang, Ke Yu, Shixiang Wu, Jinjin Gu, Yihao Liu, Chao Dong, Chen Change Loy, Yu Qiao, Xiaoou Tang:

The Super-Resolution Generative Adversarial Network (SRGAN) is a seminal work that is capable of generating realistic textures during single image super-resolution. However, the hallucinated details are often accompanied by unpleasant artifacts. To further enhance the visual quality, we thoroughly study three key components of SRGAN - network architecture, adversarial loss, and perceptual loss, and improve each of them to derive an Enhanced SRGAN (ESRGAN). In particular, we introduce the Residual-in-Residual Dense Block (RRDB) without batch normalization as the basic network building unit. Moreover, we borrow the idea from relativistic GAN to let the discriminator predict relative realness instead of the absolute value. Finally, we improve the perceptual loss by using the features before activation, which could provide stronger supervision for brightness consistency and texture recovery. Benefiting from these improvements, the proposed ESRGAN achieves consistently better visual quality with more realistic and natural textures than SRGAN and won first place in the PIRM2018-SR Challenge.

Basically, it's an algorithm that can generate high-quality images from input images. I created Arzenal, which is a pixel art upscaling algorithm designed for both smoothness, sharpness, and noise reduction. By batch upscaling, I can upscale many images at once and get quite interesting results.

This includes:

Upscaled environment, item, blocks, armor, mob effects, paintings, particles, and much more!

If you liked this texture pack, please consider diamonding and hearting, it really helps me out and can show this really cool project to more people!

2 Update Logs

Update #2 | Arzenal Oversimplified update! NEW pack for less powerful computers! : by glasshopper 03/01/2021 12:55:43 pmMar 1st, 2021

Welcome to the second official Arzenal update, for Arzenal Oversimplified!

What IS Arzenal oversimplified, anyway?

Well, AO is designed for people with weaker computers, with fewer colors, smaller file sizes, and overall downscaled features for y'all who might not have the best computers.

I hope you enjoy this update as I did making it!
