When making mine, I just immitated the changes in the original Damaged Items pack on the texture files from the Faithful pack, and it worked really well for me. Unfortunately I haven't been able to use it for a long time as it was created for 1.12 and it causes issues now :(
I've already started doing the netherite tools, but I haven't finished them all. Thanks for doing them!
