Thanks to some support from people here and others on Reddit I was able to create an optifine resource pack of a few of my mobs skins that will now change based on location (biome). Simple just drop the zip file into your resource packs folder and check 'em out.

Current version is for 1.14, from what I understand 1.15 optifine isn't really ready yet but I will update it when that time comes.

Updated With new golems, another spider and Pirate Zombies. The Black Knight and White Knight Golems you need to name them "Holy" or "Evil" with name tags, this will override the biome changes.

Added a few new biomes with 1.16. I'm think about making specific Piglins too, with their clothing varying upon biome they're in kind of like villagers. Not sure I'll have the time. Piglin Variants added! Preview in pictures.

Hey you should combine this pack with Creature Variety. They both are really great packs that would work well together.

The download works for me, but you need optifine and curseforge updated to 1.16 to work. Then place the entire zip file into the resourcepacks folder.

Yes, if optifine is properly updated it will be easy. If I need to learn a new mod language it will take longer but I will eventually do it. There are a few already in this pack that are set the the new biomes (Soulsand Ghast doesn't currently work as the biome doesn't exist). Though once it goes live I'll likely also add some random varieties to the new creatures (Piglin/hoglin Striders etc).

Well the blue Blaze will spawn randomly now with other blazes, but the thing is I'm not sure blazes can even spawn in soulsand valleys. The soulfire Blaze and Skeleton will be moved there if they can naturally spawn in those locations, otherwise I'll likely just keep them as a random spawn variety.

Added Endstone and Obsidian variants that will spawn in the end, 50-50 chance.
