Deutschlandlied (AKA Das Lied der Deutschen) is National Anthem of Germany, it was created in German (Deutsches Kaiserreich) era as one of their National Anthems alongside Heil Dir im Siegerkranz and Die Wacht am Rhein, then it became National Anthem of Weimar Republic (Weimarer Republik, AKA Deutsches Reich), then it became co-anthem of Third Reich (Großdeutsches Reich) when the NSDAP took power on Germany from 1933 to 1945, after the dictatorial regime fell in 1945 and WW2 was over (another co-official anthem of Third Reich was Horst Wessel Lied AKA Die Fahne Hoch, Horst Wessel Lied is illegal today in Austria and Germany and you could get arrested if you play it there), Germany (Deutschland) got splitted into West and East Germany, West Germany (Federal Republic of Germany, Bundesrepublik Deutschland in German) and East Germany, known as German Democratic Republic (Deutsche Demokratische Republik), West Germany kept Deutschlandlied as official National Anthem, and after fall of Berlin Wall, current Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) kept instrumental version of Deutschlandlied as National Anthem, they removed the lyrics due to a line that said "Deutschland über alles in der Welt" (Germany above all in the world), this text was related to National-Socialist version of lyrics for this song, so in the German Governments' fight against this forbidden chapter of their history, they censored lyrics of their National Anthem...
It was also anthem of Austria-Hungary and Holy Roman Empire.
