Good question! To be honest I don't quite remember, because I made the decision a very long time ago (I put out the first version of this pack 7 years ago!)

In hindsight though I like that candy isn't food because it doesn't make a lot of sense from a crafting/farming perspective: i.e. I think it would be weird if you killed a pig and instead of pork it dropped candy... Although it does have the unfortunate side-effect where you can't eat the candy in game :/
