Optimum Realism is a realistically themed resource pack meant to aim a perfect balance between performance and quality.
Is it free?
Yes, it is partially. The 128x version of Optimum Realism is for free. 512x and 2048x are patron-exclusive only.

What are these releases and why is it r3?
Each update of Optimum Realism is a release. basically a new version of it. This is the 3rd update to Optimum Realism. So this is release 3 or r3 for short. Each release has a beta stage which is available exclusively to patrons.
This stage is called the Optimum Realism BETA or O.R.B for short.
The next major update is likely to come after 1-4 months approximately but it all depends on how many things I can add.
What are the best shaders to use it with?
Personally, I'd suggest to use Kappa 4.0 or SEUS PTGI.
