Update, Thursday 4/12/12. Small aesthetic changes, based on feedback. Support for Portal Gun Mod, Several "new ore/new items" type mods, Seasons Mod, Zeppelin Mod, and more.

Also, I corrected a couple issues with the furniture mod and obsidian ingots textures. I added support for Herblore, The Art of Painting and, finally, Nacho Mod. :P

What would you guys like to see next? I would like to build my way towards yogbox/ technic pack [tekkit] support eventually, but that will have to be a "one-mod-at-a-time" kind of thing, since I have knocked all the small mods from these packs out already.

What mod(s) would you like to see me release support for next?

Brave It

I drew DangerCraft with Paint.NET. It is a total graphical overhaul for Minecraft, replacing each and every texture, item, mob, particle, and interface (including some elements that are not implemented in the game yet). My goal with DangerCraft was to make an almost-cell-shaded style that would try to round off a lot of the hard edges that we see in minecraft. Everything has a gridline aspect that embraces the blocky nature of the world of minecraft, but at the same time smooths and polishes the surface of every block and every item.

This pack is very polished, and there is a consistent feel throughout. Mod Support takes it even further, overhauling and enriching the entire minecraft experience.

Mine it

The Rounded yet Blocky, Gridline feel makes time spent underground (or in the Nether) a lot more enjoyable. The blocks are all smooth and substantial. As you break them, the animation begins from the outside edges and works its way in, unlike most packs out there.

Craft it

One of my goals was to make everything look like what it is made out of (for example, the small mushrooms and sapling trees look like miniature 2-Dimensional versions of their full size counterparts, and most items that are made with wood planks [doors, chests, signs] have been textured in the same pattern they are constructed with a smaller instance of the texture for wood planks).

Look inquisitively at the tools, they follow the same pattern. Each iron tool being apparently put together out of the pieces that make it up in the recipe. It's wild.

Battle a Horde

There are literally hundreds of mob variants (Balthichou's Randomobs is an absolute must to get the most out of this pack). They aren't too varied yet, mostly just different color combinations and facial expression, but in time I will add more personality to my randomobs by adding some individuality to each one. Perhaps eventually themed mob packs for DangerCraft will become manifest. Mature Minecrafters, in the future keep an eye out for a "Gore-Pack" add-on. I'll make some real zombies out of those pigmen ;) (just don't let mom catch you playing minecraft past your bedtime while blood and guts are oozing.)

Stand individual among an Army of Steves

The pack includes over two dozen unique HD textures for Steve himself, so if you see anyone who doesn't have a custom skin uploaded onto minecraft.net, or if you are playing offline, you will see an awesome and varied DangerCraft Steve instead of the normal default skin) Expect more in time; for some reason, I really like making Steves. (Also, I would like to talk to a modder about a mod that would add a toggle-able option to ignore online skins from minecraft.net and use skins from the texture pack instead, at will)

Use DangerCraft with Mods.

I have never been a fan of using mods that include new textures alongside an HD texture, because the content the mod would add ends up looking like garbage in a themed pack. However, I am at a point in my Minecraft career where certain mods have become indispensible to me, so one of my goals with this pack was to include textures for the mods I like, and for some of the most popular mods for the most current version of Minecraft.

If there are any specific mods you would love to see done for this pack, give me a nudge over on my DangerCraft Suggestions Forum on Minecraft Forums, or shoot me an email at vincent_danger@inbox.xom.

Use DangerCraft on Youtube.

Lets plays. Mod spotlights. Even just to help me show off all the little details in the massive amount of content that is DangerCraft as it grows and changes. I just want to bring more exposure to DangerCraft, and bring more exposure to the awesome mods that I decide to include textures for. If you want to help me show that off, I would be glad to be able to put some well made DangerCraft Videos embeded right here.

Just be sure to include a link back to this page so your viewers can check this pack out for themselves. Honestly, it would help me out quite a bit if some folks wanted to make some texture pack showcase videos to show off not just the core texture pack, but some of the mod support as well. Credit the Authors of any mods you showcase, and of course also include the links for those as well.

Enjoy.

Future updates to DangerCraft will include support for several more mods, more variety in randomobs variants, as well as new textures for the wall Arts. I am looking for an easy (read, less than inevitably 40+ hours of work pixel pasting) to increase the resolution. I chose 64x as my size because I consider it the best ratio of performance and quality, but I would love to make a 128x version some day. And a 256 ;). I might consider making different themed versions of DangerCraft in the future (Medieval Gothic, Space/ Interdimensional, Steampunk Pirate, Pre-historic CaveMan.) I've got just a ton of ideas for DangerCraft. Never enough time. Check back here occasionally to see whats up and coming in DangerCraft. Please, give me feedback about what you would like to see added to Dangercraft in future updates.

I will keep DangerCraft up to date for as long as minecraft holds my attention. Probably until the final version, if there ever is one.

If you are a modder or a youtuber and would like me to consider doing specific work for you in DangerCraft Compatible Artstyle, shoot me an email. It doesn't hurt to ask. I take requests, as I find time.

Additional Notes

To see the HD steve skins are applied when no skin is supplied for a player from minecraft.net Meaning, if you have set a custom skin for yourself on Minecraft.net, you will be unable to wear the HD skin unless you play in offline mode. You will see an HD skin on anyone who is still using the Default skin (some servers have NPC's that will be wearing these HD skins as well). Currently, there is no way to force minecraft.net to remove the custom skin linked with your account.

Also, there is an added bonus for those who want to show off their support for DangerCraft while playing online. If you open the Dangercraft.zip file and go into the "mobs" folder, there are a bunch of files named "char_online#.png and "char_online#_alt.png. These are regular definition versions of each of the random HD steve skins included with the pack (and an alt for each, for those who don't prefer the floating pupil thing.)

Show your support for DangerCraft while playing online (or just indicate to others that you are playing minecraft in DangerCraft artstyle), by rocking one of those standard definition skins. Feel free to edit them as you see fit, or make a DangerCraft version of your own skin if you want. The power is yours!

Sorry it's not been updated in such a long time, folks. My computer couldn't run Minecraft beyond the 1.2.5 update, and life has kept me otherwise occupied since. I can't promise a quick delivery, but my computer is at least able to run minecraft again, and so this project will be given some attention again. Stay tuned.

This is my friend's texture pack, and he has been meaning to get to updating it.

I harass him about it every now and again, but I shall be more forceful with my verbal abuse regarding this topic, in hopes that he can actually make it happen.
