Note: This is NOT a texture pack - it is a data pack.

BlazeandCave's advancements pack adds over 250 new advancements to your world so you have some extra challenges to do in your survival world.

The current version requires release 1.12, 1.12.1 or 1.12.2.

Notable features:
  • Adds over 250 new advancements to your world, bringing the total up to 329.
  • All five existing vanilla tabs (Minecraft, Nether, End, Husbandry and Adventure) have had advancements added.
  • Adds five new tabs - Building, Combat, Redstone, Enchanting and Potions.
  • Item rewards given via functions. (Optional)
  • Rearranged a few of the vanilla advancements so they fit in with our new ones and new tabs. Also renamed the 'Minecraft' tab to Mining and the 'Husbandry' tab to 'Farming.'
  • Some new advancements are inspired by various existing pre-1.12 achievements as well as achievements that are exclusive to Console editions of Minecraft. Others are purely original ideas of our own or of other people (see extra credits section).
  • All advancements are fully translatable using the BACAP Language Pack - currently Pirate Speak and Lolcat languages are supported. You can help us translate - more details are below.
  • You may find a list of advancements in the Read Me file in the download.

Beta installation details and changelog:
Installation:
1) Unzip the compressed folder that you downloaded.

2) Copy the folder labeled "bac_advancements". Paste it into the following folder directory in the world you want to install them in: <World name>/datapacks.

3) Go into the world. To make sure the advancements properly installed type in "/advancement grant @p only". You should see the auto-completion containing a really long list of custom advancements.
Also, a message should pop up saying you are using BlazeandCave's advancements pack.

Installing reward functions:
1) Reward functions give you item or experience rewards upon completing some advancements. By default they are turned off. To turn them on enter the following command:
/scoreboard players set Reward Reward 1
To turn them off enter this command:
/scoreboard players set Reward Reward 0

Changelog:
- Updated for use in 1.13's snapshots only.
- Now comes in the form of a datapack, with slightly differing installation instructions.
- Added the Beginning tab and the Animals tab.
- The Beginning tab is automatically unlocked upon entering a new world. Contains "Getting Wood", "Benchmarking" and a few other new beginner advancements.
- The Animals tab splits off many of the animal-related advancements from the Farming tab.
- Upon entering a world for the first time you now get a welcome message.
- The Building tab is now unlocked when you get "Benchmarking" (craft a crafting table).
- The Mining tab is now unlocked when you get "Time to Mine!" (craft a pickaxe).
- The Farming tab is now unlocked when you get "Time to Farm!" (craft a hoe).
- The Combat tab is now unlocked when you get "Time to Strike!" (craft a sword).
- Added the following advancements. Lots of new advancements for the Animals tab was added, but also a large number of stack collection advancements, particularly for hostile mobs, as well as, of course, plenty of new advancements relating to the Update Aquatic itself.

- Mining: "Stone Age", "Spelunker", "My work here is done", "Flint Miner", "Nananananananana...", "Rock Bottom", "Obsidian Miner".

- Renamed "Delicious Fish" to "Fishy Business" and moved it to the Animals tab.
- Moved "Hot Topic" and "Renewable Energy" to the Mining tab, and "Acquire Hardware" now comes after "Hot Topic".
- You now additionally need to get the new prismarine slabs and stairs for "Slabs For Days" and "Ah, My Old Enemy..." respectively.
- You now additionally need to eat Dried Kelp to get "Vegetarian" and "A Balanced Diet".
- You now additionally need to breed Turtles to get "Overpopulation".
- You now additionally need to find all the new ocean variants to get "Wet Feet" and "Adventuring Time".
- You now additionally need to kill Phantoms and Drowned to get "Monsters Hunted" and "Night Runner".
- You now additionally need to have Slow Falling and Resistance to get "A Furious Cocktail".
- You now additionally need to have Slow Falling, Conduit Power and Dolphin's Grace to get "A much more doable challenge" and "How Did We Get Here?"
- You now additionally need to get the new trident enchantments to get "Complete Enchanter" and "Master Enchanter".
- Made the descriptions of "Master Miner" and other similar advancements more clear.
- "Still Talking", "Spooky Skulls" and "Creepy Heads" are no longer hidden and reduced their experience rewards to 250.
- Shifted some of the advancements around within some tabs to reduce the amount of vertical scrolling needed.
- All vanilla advancements now properly overwrite vanilla advancements instead of being completely different files. This means installing the Advancements Pack on a world where you've already gotten some vanilla advancements should no longer cause you to lose your progress. It also means there should no longer be error messages coming up in servers regarding being unable to load the vanilla advancements. However, do note that updating from an earlier version of the Advancements Pack to this version will cause you to lose your progress on the advancements that appear in vanilla, but not on the custom advancements.


Beta Build 2 changelog:
- Updated for use in 18w20a onwards due to a few block id changes.
- Added a few new advancements.
- Farming: "Hay there!", "The Meloncholy Dane", "Pumpa Kungen", "Undersea Gardener".

Beta Build 3 changelog:

Beta Build 4 changelog:
- Fixed the description of "Rainbow Sand" reading "Craft concrete_powder powder using sand, gravel and dye".

BACAP Language Pack 1.4.0.1 changelog:
- Added Russian translations.
- Added "Stripper" and "Farrier" to all the language files as apparently we accidentally forgot to include those.
- Updated the description of "Fishy Business" in the language file.

Beta Build 5 changelog:
- Updated for use in 1.13-pre2.
- Fixed reward functions that give enchanted books and items now giving blank enchanted books and items due to a change in a recent snapshot.

Beta Build 6 changelog:
- Updated for use in 1.13-pre3.
- Fixed the backgrounds of many of the tabs being the missing texture due to the "blocks" folder in Minecraft's resources being changed to "block".


Known beta bugs:
These bugs are all caused because snapshots are still somewhat buggy. These are not our fault - our syntax is correct, it's just that Minecraft has problems.
- A bug exists where breeding turtles does not trigger properly, so as a result, "Hey Look, Mom!" is unobtainable, and "Overpopulation" cannot be completed fully either.
- A bug exists where the location trigger can't detect Underwater Ruins or Shipwrecks, so as a result, "Atlantis", "Get Ship-rekt!" and "Titanic" are unobtainable.
Hopefully all these bugs will be fixed by 1.13's full release.



Installation:
This is not a custom map download, even though it is under 'projects.' In order to install, follow these steps:

1) Unzip the compressed folder that you downloaded.
2) Copy BOTH the folders labeled "blazeandcave" and "minecraft" inside the "advancements" folder. Paste them into the following folder directory in the world you want to install them in: <World name>/data/advancements.
Do NOT copy them into plain <world name>/advancements - that's the folder that contains player files, not the advancements themselves.
3) Go into the world. To make sure the advancements properly installed type in "/advancement grant @p only bla" then press tab to make sure the "bla" part autocompletes to blazeandcave. Alternatively, pick up any block and place it down again, and this will unlock the "Building" tab. If either of these work, the advancements installed properly. Enjoy!

Installing reward functions:
1) Copy the folder "bc_rewards" inside the "functions" folder into: <World name>/data/functions.
This will install functions that will grant you with small rewards when you obtain some advancements. It is purely optional, if you don't want to get these extra rewards simply don't copy in the functions.

Updating to newer versions:
The Advancements Pack will undoubtedly be updated to be fixed for later versions or to add more advancements or fix bugs. In order to update, simply delete the "blazeandcave" and "minecraft" folders from your world, then copy and paste the new folders in. Please note that when you re-enter your world some or all of the advancements you have already obtained you may need to obtain again.

Using the Language Pack:
As of version 1.3.1, BlazeandCave's Advancements Pack has support for translation into other languages through use of the BACAP Language Pack, which can be downloaded here. When using it, you may choose any language that the Advancement Pack supports and it will change the names and descriptions of all of the advancements into that language.
In version 1.3.1 the following languages are supported, and we hope to add more in the future:
- Español (By Parritoso)
- Russian (By SoSeDiK) (1.4 Beta Builds only)
- Pirate Speak (PIRATE) (By Cavinator1)
- LOLCAT (Kingdom of Cats) (By Cavinator1)
If you want to help us translate, you can download the base language file off of GitHub, translate it, then send it back to us. You will be credited.
If you are running a server with version 1.3.1 or higher, please note in the description that it supports translation using the BACAP Language Pack, and provide a link to the Planet Minecraft page.


What you may do with these advancements:
You may freely use them to play your worlds. This includes singleplayer worlds, LAN worlds with friends, or even public multiplayer servers. If you use our advancements on a public server please credit us in the server's description and leave a link to the Planet Minecraft page.
Do not re-upload our advancements and claim them as your own.
You may record a Youtube series where you use these advancements in your survival world or on a server you play on. If you do, please credit us in the video or in the description, and leave a link to the Planet Minecraft page. And message us, too. We'd love to see you play with them.
And remember to pronounce our names right! Cavinator1 is cave-in-eight-or and MichaelMKenny is michael-em-kenny.

Troubleshooting:
We are aware a number of people have had trouble installing our pack, especially on servers. The Troubleshooting section in the Read Me document that comes with the pack has more information on troubleshooting.


Extra Credits:
Cobaas - Creator of an advancement pack that used our pack as a base, and also added some new advancements of their own. Cobaas has allowed us to add the new advancements from their pack to ours.
Parritoso - Translated the Advancements Pack into Spanish.
SoSeDiK - Translated the Advancements Pack into Russian.
CrazyCraftyGamer - Came up with the name for the advancement for killing a Drowned which won the twitter poll. He also suggested adding custom banner designs onto the shields for icons of advancements that require you to block a specific mob's attack.

Bug Report: Adventuring Time Resets back to 1/43 when you rejoin a server [I didn't test on single player but I am positive it will still reset]

There are a few glitches with advancements that rely on entering locations. It means we already know that the advancements for entering an Ocean Ruin and Shipwreck also don't work due to bugs in Minecraft. Our code is correct, it's just Minecraft's fault.




As for Adventuring Time resetting back to 1/43, we are aware a similar problem happens with Monster Hunter but are unsure as to why.
Does it happen with any other advancements? (e.g. Monsters Hunted). Just noticing both Adventuring Time and Monster Hunter are vanilla advancements.

Advancement ideas:
- One Hundred Thousand Blocks [Travel 100,000 blocks]
- Block Placer [Place every single possible block to get in survival mode on the ground]
- The Majestic Pink Sheep [Find a pink sheep in the wild]
- Skull Collector [Obtain a creeper skull, a skeleton skull, a wither skeleton skull, and a zombie skull from the chanceling enchantment]
- Golden Lover [Make golden armor]
- The Mistake! [Put mending on any golden piece of armor and realize what you are doing in life]

1st One: Already exists (it's hidden)
2nd One: It is pretty hard. We have an idea where we create a "super challenge" tab where only really hard advancements like this one go, but for 1.4 this won't happen.
3rd One: Yes, how would it detect?
4th One: These kind of already exist, as there is an advancement for each individual item, but not one for getting every single item.
5th One and 6th One: Nice. We'll probably save these ones for 1.5.

Two advancements ideas:

Enchanting Tab: Ultimate Enchanter (Hidden Challenge) Collect every enchantment at every level

Animals Tab: Master of Fishing (Goal) Collect a stack of all four types of fish

Currently we have "Complete Enchanter" (get every enchantment), "Master Enchanter" (get every enchantment at max level)... so why not "Ultimate Enchanter" as well?

As for "Master of Fishing" this is also a good idea.

We will probably save these ones for 1.5 because 1.13 (and hence 1.4's full release) is coming out very soon.

We will try to keep as much forwards compatibility as possible between 1.4 and 1.5. As long as your server isn't running while updating the advancements pack, when you turn it back on it should still have everyone's achieved advancements.

Yes. Shut down your server so it is no longer running. Then delete the 1.4 datapack and in its place put in the 1.5 datapack.

Some other bugs that have been happening:

-Every time I log out & log back in, it no longer says I've completed 'Monster Hunter'

I have a new idea for an advancement in the nether tab

Well, we tried implementing your idea. The logic seems to check out but unfortunately the "slept_in_bed" trigger only triggers if you successfully sleep in a bed. It doesn't trigger if you try to sleep in a bed in the nether and set off an explosion.

In your world you would need to update the advancement pack version you are using to 1.4, which we are planning on releasing on the same day as Minecraft 1.13.

Some advancements that you've already earned will still be kept but a few will need to be obtained again. The advancements you will need to obtain again will be all the vanilla advancements and also any advancement that has been moved from one tab to another.
if a reward is an enchanted book

it has no enchantment, it's only a Blank Enchanted Book

Can you remember if this happened with a specific advancement or with all advancements that give enchanted books as rewards?
I completed the advancements where I needed a stack of gunpowder and a stack of bones and arrows

Both Enchanted Books were blank

You have to shoot a mob from point-blank range. What this means is shoot it from less than one block away.

So when my server restarts my players lose all advancement progress and end up with https://imgur.com/a/h0olm . We are unable to gain any other advancements or get the other tabs.

Well, it looks like that our pack disappeared and got replaced with vanilla advancements.

An update for 1.13 has been in the works, as something we occasionally work on, and we plan to release it shortly after the Minecraft 1.13 update is released. Obviously the current version for 1.12 won't work in any of 1.13's snapshots.
One thing that we may do once all the technical changes and snapshots become a bit more stable is put out a beta version for download separately from the current version.

How to complete "Create a perfect Sword" achievement in Enchanting Tab (*i really don't know how to complete that)

All those "Create a perfect item" advancements require you to get all enchantments possible on that item at max level. For a sword you'd need Sharpness V, Knockback II, Fire Aspect II, Looting III, Sweeping Edge III, Unbreaking III, and Mending.

I noticed you mentioned you weren't familiar with how to make it so that rewards could be used on the server without allowing players to cheat. Would it be possible to make a separate version that runs the commands as the server and uses the @player tag?

At this stage we don't think there is a way. When an advancement runs a function file it always runs the function file as though the player that just got the advancement was running the function file using the /function command.

Ahhh. So what would really need to happen would be for someone to make an actual plugin that ties into your work and runs the commands server side when the advancement event is triggered?

We suppose that if all the server plugin did was made it so whenever someone got an advancement with a function run, it would run the function server-side. However, all functions that give players items use the @s selector, and if that was run server-side it wouldn't work, so the plugin would probably need to replace "@s" with the name of the player that just got that advancement, if that's possible at all.
Do this work on servers to? and if so how....is it just the same way as if it was an SP world?

Yes, the pack works on servers too. Install it within the world used for the server the same way as a singleplayer world and it should work.
Please note that the reward functions may not work on servers if most people on your server do not have operator permissions due to the way that functions run from advancements work. However, all advancements should work perfectly.
Are you planning to update the advancements since 17w46a is released, or are you working on that?

There will be an update once 1.13 is fully released.

Currently we haven't been working on it given how unstable the snapshots currently are, but we do plan to soon-ish.

In my server console I keep getting cannot load advancement: (there are over 40 of them that give this error I can list them all if you want... what did I do wrong?)

You did absolutely nothing wrong. All the vanilla advancements are forced to not appear, instead only our own advancements in our own tabs appear (which contain both original new advancements and advancements that look like the vanilla ones but are actually in new files). This would cause errors in the server log, but it's nothing to worry about. :)

OK, took us a bit longer than we promised, but the advancements pack now has full translation support using the BACAP Language Pack. We created Pirate Speak and Lolcat translations ourselves, but if you want to translate it into other languages feel free to check out the GitHub repository (link is in the description).

We're all for translation, although the only language either of us speak fluently is English, and there are a few problems with how the pack could be translated.
There are two ways the pack could be translated:
1) Using a resource pack that adds new lines to the language files that can then be applied to all the advancements, so if someone downloads the advancements pack and then uses a resource pack they could see the pack in any language they choose. Problems are that on servers it would need to force everyone who enters to download the resource pack. Same for LAN worlds or realms.

EDIT: After doing some experimentation we've discovered that we can design a translatable pack so if someone doesn't use the resource pack they'll see all the advancements in English by default, but if they download the resource pack they can choose to use French, Spanish, Pirate Speak, or whatever language that has been supported.
If they use a language that does not have support it should render as English by default.
(We were initially a bit worried that if someone didn't use the resource pack with the translatable advancements pack then all the advancements would be called things like "advancement.dead_dont_die" but we've figured out a way around it).

Sorry if it sounds a bit technical, but essentially, option 1 can work.

2) Release a bunch of different versions of the pack - e.g. an English version, a French version, other languages. Slight problem then is that if a server uses an English version no French players or other people who speak other languages would be able to see the pack in their language. However, it would not require people to use any resource packs.

We'll look into possibly putting the pack on github so the community could submit translations or code for new advancements. We're currently pretty busy on our map Assassin of Steve 3 so it might be a week or so until we get round to it.




EDIT: Make that a couple of weeks until after Assassin of Steve 3 is finished (which is pretty soon)
i find it bugg when giving items half of the time you won't get the reward

There is a Minecraft bug where sometimes the items won't appear in your inventory, but logging in and out should make them appear.
If the items really are not being given, can you tell us specifically which advancements this is happening for?
Awesome work, looks super sweet!
Though I don't really like the idea of getting items 'out of thin air' as rewards.
I would much prefer XP as reward to make advancements an alternative to afk-farms.
If it's not too much effort, could you make a version of the pack that gives XP?

If you don't want to get items out of thin air, just don't install the reward functions. The advancements will still all work properly.
Many advancements (e.g. most of the challenge ones with the spiky borders) and a few of the others give XP rewards anyway without the reward functions installed.
Yea good point, although I think I'm just gonna change the rewards so that every advancement gives a bit of XP. I really like the idea of advancements being the main way to get XP. Much more fun than AFKing next to a mobgrinder for hours ;)

Few issues I've noticed.




1) There are some rewards defined without a number after it, so it gives a stack of items (64) instead of a single amount. At least with servers that have Essentials installed.




2) The rewards require players to have the /tellraw and /give permission node on the server. It doesn't initiate the command from console.

Thank you for letting us know about those points. Servers can have some strange behavior. :P
The first point can be fixed (we'll just have to go through all the reward function files and specifically make such files to give one item).
For the second point, unfortunately when advancements give rewards, they have to run a function file with the commands in them, and it seems to be that those functions are run as though that specific player has run the function themselves using the /function.
This is unfortunately just how advancements work, so it does not seem like it can be fixed so that these commands run from console from our end.

Also wouldn't it make more sense for the ender's chest advancement to be moved to the end?

The ender's chest advancement is in the Nether after Into Fire because it becomes possible to craft an ender chest once you've obtained a blaze rod (alongside an ender pearl and obsidian, which you are more likely to have obtained previously)
