Hey there Planet Minecraft, my name is Dan, I'll be your guide today!
Should you really only be interested in what this texture pack is going to be, skip this next section, I just thought I'd explain myself a little is all.
Origins/About Me
So, what we have here is a big blank block of nothing - Do you see it too? Nice. Let me explain myself, through my whole life I've been very, very artistic and despite the huge lack of self-motivation I've always prevailed above it all and continued to do what I wished.
However, recently, I ventured to Spain (I say recently, I mean about 9/10 months) and despite that being good fun, I'm sure there are some of you that know what a typical Spanish holiday may include...Now, after coming back home, it felt like my brain had been churned up like butter. And no, this isn't an add for some new Margarine...So, I've barely done any art since that time, and am currently waiting for the 'Motivational-Mobile' to hit me as I cross the road one day.
However, I figure I have to do something too - I've only recently started playing Minecraft but heard about it since the beginning, saw a couple of images that were made using the game and thought nothing of it. I've now had the game for roughly 2/3 months, and it's excellent, I love the look and feel of the game and all that there is to do in it. Shortly after I started, I began to look for texture packs, and there are many interesting ones out there, but I've always wanted to develop and create my own...
Which is where this...Or more so, where I come in, again. It seems simple enough, and being big on art, pixel art, computers and all things digital I wanted to give it a go, and currently am! Just started today on: "Captain's Log: Stardate; 1st of June, 2011."
This should be fun...
The Texture Pack and Sich'
So, that's it, I've began, it's going to be a pack on, obviously, what I think things should be like, should this either be a raging success or a bitter disappointment, I'm going to keep going, I figure I should do something with my spare time other than dominating people on Call of Duty or admiring the lip synchronization in L.A. Noire and so I shall - I'm planning on this being a realistic texture pack, or as much as it can be for 16x16, and hopefully, if all goes well, I'll venture into deeper waters, 32x32 and 64x64.
I have many ideas in my head, some for other texture packs that I wish to make (Which really isn't helping right now!) and others for this one. I could use as much advice as possible, and criticism would be greatly appreciated.
Anyway, Good Night, Sleep Tight - Young Lovers...
Not for me though because I stay up until daybreak.
The pack is a completely original creation of mine, if an item has been edited and looks similar to default or anything else it's either because:
it's a temporary texture,
I haven't touched it yet, or
unintentionally made a texture similar.
I'll try and be as active on here as possible, though I can't promise anything, although, I do love being badgered! So, if I am inactive, keep pestering me as I need motivation from others' as well as myself ~ Thanks and God Bless, unless you're atheist, in which case, Cosmos Bless!
If you have any requests or wish for alternatives within the pack, please let me know. I'm more than happy to at least attempt to meet your needs. If anything isn't to your liking, again, let me know, support and feedback help me greatly in making this pack as good as I want it to be, and you, too!

Also updated the download link so that it actually works.
Sorry it's been so long, shall be working on this in the next few days to come.
This isn't a terribly lengthy change-log, I've been working mainly on the GUI and attempting the armours.
Anyway, goodnight! I'm off to bed (such is why this is so abrupt).
as for Birchwood Planks, the lines between each 'plank' are shown as awfully dark lines, in my texture pack, they're far more subtle, I just couldn't be bothered updating my pack with the newest version when taking this screenshot. (Final screenshot, scroll along to see it).
(Basically, I got really excited about all the new wood types and the possibilities they hold. As well as the fact that I was also getting excited about upside down slabs and stairs more so than I already had in 1.2.3)
Edit: Nighty night, I'm off to watch Ghost in the Shell and eat toast!
Cobblestone is smoother, a little darker
iron/gold/diamond blocks saturated
clay brick darker, smoother, less contrasting
I'm going for a less-contrasting and smoother/sleeker look. If you LIKE the contrast, tell me.
I will be keeping the old, contrasting blocks anyway, so I can always resort back to them.
Umm...Thank you? I think?
Glad you like the pack!...? XD
