Origines of Rome - Roman Addon Resource-Pack for Conquest [32x32] [MC 1.8]

Level 69 : High Grandmaster Architect

An ancient roman addon pack for Monsterfish's Conquest!

You must use Optifine or Mcpatcher to get the most out of this texture pack!

Origines of Rome is, depending on the version you are using, best used with the latest Minecraft 1.8 or 1.7 compatible version of the Conquest texture pack (Monsterfish's Conquest Texture Pack).

For Mediterranean dry grass in birch and ocean/river biomes, place this pack over the primary one in your load order: Origines Dry Grass Addon

Installation Guide! Please consult before posting in the comment section
1. Download the desired version of Origines of Rome.
2. Download the corresponding version of Conquest.
3. Drag both versions into the resourcepack folder located in the .minecraft folder.
4. Start Minecraft and go into the resourcepack menu.
5. Click on the arrows pointing to the right for both OOR and Conquest.
6. Make sure OOR is above Conquest in the loadorder presented on the right side of the window.
7. Click on done and let minecraft load the textures!

REMINDER: For the best experience install either OPTIFINE or MCPATCHER! There might be issues without!

For Faster loading times: Unzip the Conquest and Origines of Rome packs. Drag the Origines of Rome pack into the Conquest pack and overwrite all files. Zip your newly merged folder and you are good to go.

SUMMARY: This addon pack is meant to bring the luxuries of ancient Rome to the Conquest resource pack, which provides stellar textures for natural objects and many construction materials. Many Conquest textures are replaced, such as the stained clay and wool textures.

Alongside the Conquest texturepack, Origines of Rome aims to allows users to achieve a range of Roman settings, from a rich patrician's resort to a poor plebeian's apartment.

First and foremost, the co-founder of the Origines build team, Mrfinder. Without him most of these textures wouldn't exist!

Many thanks to Monsterfish, for allowing us to create an addon-pack for his fantastic texture pack and allowing us to use his tiled roof texture, cobblestone meta-texture, log, and plank textures.

Thank you to Daruskiy and Atheray from the Respublica server! Daruskiy has made many useful meta-data textures, and Atheray created iron door, noteblock, and redstone lamp textures perfect for the theme.

Stugace, for inspiring Origines members to bring Rome to minecraft, we are immensely grateful. Thank you for allowing Origines to use your textures as placeholders years ago when our texture pack was first created.

And finally Leondonis, for completely reworking previous incarnations of the pack into the final version you are currently looking at!

A version of Origines of Rome compatible with Minecraft 1,7 has been released. A 1.8 version with these changes will be released soon. Many meta-datas have been added, allowing for a far greater range of building materials. In this version:
Carpets fixed
Quartz slabs fixed,
Dark oak has been changed to a marble texture that can simulate many aspects of Roman architecture (ie: capitals, architraves, friezes).
Netherrack and soulsand are now smooth blocks of sandstone.
Many thanks to Atheray from the Respublica server for:
New Iron door texture
New Redstone lamp texture
New Noteblock texture
Values 1-15 (ie: 24:4) of a block will provide a meta-data that can be seen with Optifine's connect textures turned on. Thank you Daruskiy for making many of these meta-data textures!
Meta-data for:
Lapis Block (22)
Iron Block(42)
Stonebrick (98)

I LOVE the idea but its kind of odd using it as most of the added textures arent quite as detailed as the default conquest textures.
But dont get me wrong its still great thats really the only complaint i have

Adorable is an unusual compliment :P

I'm not sure when a 1.9 version for this pack alone will be out, since I'm working to merge this with the Conquest mod and bring that to 1.9.
Any news on getting it merged?

Hello! I'm having some issues (or so I think) with the pack. Is it normal for most of the textures to be from Conquest, or is Conquest overriding too much?

Most natural and organic blocks should be from conquest, while most inorganic materials should be from Origines of Rome. Keep in mind that the screenshots include metadata textures that are not accessible through the creative mode interface. Hope this helps!

This texture pack is incredible!  I am the Mayor of a town on a small server I play, and it makes the town hall look like an old Roman building!  Excellent work, Origines!

I love the authenticity and depth of this pack. Would be great to bring this up to 64x64 for the added detail. You all planning on updating this pack? It's a shame what happened to Respublica.

Thank you! Indeed, we were quite sad to see Respublica go down. Right now, I can't foresee us doing a 64x64 pack. If we were to increase the amount of detail I imagine we would focus on bringing the textures up to the amount of detail present in the Conquest Pack and creating connected textures. Besides that, we may create a mod-pack to bring the meta-data blocks to minecraft v. 1.8 or 1.9. At the moment, we're focused on our own reconstruction of Rome set around 320 AD, so the soonest we would begin work on these updates is December or January.

I installed it as per instruction, the title page does change(as well as the opening credit), but in game, its still the vanilla texture. (in the case that I use conquest with it, only conquest textures showed up)

Did I do something wrong??

Did you make sure to download the texture pack into the resourcepacks folder in .minecraft?

Neither myself nor others have experienced this before, to my knowledge. At this point, I cannot say whether or not you did something wrong, given that you followed the instructions.

You may want to try the alternative installation: "For Faster loading times: Unzip the Conquest and Origines of Rome packs. Drag the Origines of Rome pack into the Conquest pack and overwrite all files. Zip your newly merged folder and you are good to go."

Let me know if this works for you.

The carpet textures are left open for the Conquest carpet textures, as the wool textures (icons for carpet) are intended for wall or floor designs. In 1.8, the majority of carpet textures are working as they should right now, while the conquest fur carpet is somewhat glitchy.

I'll see if there's anything I can do on my end. If nothing comes up, it is probably something that needs to be fixed in Conquest.

You should be able to put this texture pack over default, but with any texture pack, other than conquest, that uses connected textures there may be some issues.
